What a marvelous city Valencia is. One minute you’re in the historic center, the next you’re on the mile-long sandy beach. One of our favorite beaches is the Patacona beach in the neighboring town of Alboraya. The colorful low-rise houses and palm trees give an instant vacation feeling, but in the summer it’s even more fun: that’s when the chiringuitos are there! We would like to tell you more about the nice chiringuitos in Valencia.
What are chiringuitos?
Chiringuitos are beach bars that can be found along the coast of Spain, especially in the regions around the Mediterranean Sea. They are really literally on the beach and are often built of wood, making them look a bit like surf houses. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and you can go there for a sandwich, a snack, a soda or a cocktail. The chiringuitos also have sunbeds and umbrellas that you can rent.
When are there chiringuitos in Valencia?
The chiringuitos in Valencia are usually there from mid-May to mid-October. They are open every day during that period. Opening hours are usually from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., but this can vary from chiringuito to chiringuito.
What are the best chiringuitos in Valencia?
The relaxed atmosphere and its location on the beach, makes almost every chiringuito worth visiting. Some well-known chiringuitos are those at La Mas Bonita (this is also the first one you will come across on Patacona, coming from Valencia city), BBeach, Patasur and El Ocho. Just take a look where there is space and where the atmosphere or music appeals to you the most and you are guaranteed a great day at the beach!
